It’s obvious that this dog screamed in fear, so this owner can rule out any medical conditions.

According to the canine resource site Oodle Life, “Canine cognitive dysfunction, also known as canine dementia, is similar to Alzheimer’s disease in humans. Much like the human condition, canine dementia can cause disorientation resulting in increased confusion, anxiety and fear, especially if your pooch forgets where he is, which may manifest as yelling.”

The website states that “anxiety is a common cause of student yelling.” This feeling of unease can arise when a dog’s environment or daily routine changes.

Oodle Life gave the following example: “Your dog may suddenly scream when an unfamiliar animal or visitor is nearby.” Therefore, the cry takes on its full meaning.

However, if your dog suddenly starts screaming and the reason is not obvious. It’s best to check for injuries and consult the vet as acute infections such as inflammation of the ear known as otitis media and chronic medical conditions such as arthritis can also cause crying.

The dog’s cry has caused confusion on TikTok. Some people asked if it was the baby or the dog.

One user’s comment racked up 70,000 likes, saying, “I’ve never seen a dog scream in terror in my life.”

Another wrote: “CAN DOGS SCREAM LIKE THIS?”

“She pulled that scream out of her DIAPHRAGM!!!” said another.

Another TikToker joked, “She was like ‘I’m not really into fighting but take this! AYEHHHHHHHH”

This user struggled to hold back her laughter, commenting, “I’m so sorry for the dog, but the scream made me laugh.”

It’s not the first time a dog has left the internet in hysteria, before Newsweek wrote an article about a dachshund lying down and a teenage-looking Husky who was caught rolling his eyes.

Newsweek contacted @bayley.rose.smelly.toes for comment. We were unable to verify the details of the case.
