TR Fastenings has launched new interactive 3D animations to serve as a training and education tool for buyers and design engineers regarding products and installation methods.
Wiith the advent of emerging technologies, manufacturing is becoming increasingly complex. The integration of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) allows manufacturers to simplify these processes. TR Fastenings Ltd, part of the Trifast Plc group, is therefore embracing and profiting from this growing trend with its animation expertise.
Produced by TR’s in-house visualization team, 3D models have been created to allow the user to accurately visualize products in different settings and formats. Have you ever wondered what a hook-and-loop fastener looks like cut in half, or visualized what it would look like once it’s fully assembled? TR believes it is this visualization of the product that will help companies at the design stage and will be invaluable. Various options allow the user to interact with the products such as assemblies, sections, magnification, material types and installation.
Currently, about 50 products with the 3D Product Viewer are available on the TR website. The company’s intent is for these elements to become an integral part of its ongoing content strategy as the industry evolves visualization technology to meet the demands of design engineering.
These interactive animations also include installation animations where a complete installation process can be shown, start to finish. What can often be difficult to explain is now much clearer and easier to understand using visual representation. TR’s installation animations are a way to demonstrate virtual assembly and sub-assembly in an easy way. These “real-time” technical animations showcase products, processes and concepts, which can often be complex and difficult to visualize.
“We are excited about our new series of 3D product viewers and animations. This represents a real change in the way designers and engineers can work with us. VR and AR technology has advanced significantly in recent years, but our industry has not fully exploited this potential. We will continue to develop our offering to ensure we bring innovative concepts to life,” says Glenda Roberts, Director of Global Projects and Marketing at TR Fastenings.
